This is congress?

I think this transcript shows how unintelligent our government really is. What kind of answer does Lantos expect when he is asking such a generic question as ?Are you ashamed?? These companies tried to answer specific questions so as to make some type of progress in the Chinese/American relationship, and all Lantos could do is prod for a bus word to spam in the newspapers.

Businesses need to be held accountable for their actions, but it seems to me that just asking them if they feel bad for what they have done is not a real solution.

Why tech companies?

This kind of witch hunting by congress infuriates me. Why are tech companies being singled out for their activities in China? What about the hundreds of US companies that profit DIRECTLY from unethical labor practices in China? What about THOSE families? While censoring blogs is rather disgusting, establishing pitiful wages for workers so that Americans can buy cheap consumer products is a far worse crime.

Are these companies ashamed of answering to a country which tortures and murders prisoners in Iraq, holds people illegally in cuba and executes more people than Saudi Arabia each year?
