By blocking sites, China says it is eradicating Web-based porn coming from within. It's the rest of the world that's the problem.

China's not alone

Everyone acts like China is doing something abnormal by blocking websites. For all of you who haven't lived anywhere other than America, a bunch of countries have internet services that block websites. I reside in the United Arab Emirates, where anything that does not coincide with Islamic values is blocked by the sole internet provider - Etisalat. In addition, sites that are pro-Israeli or have any material that does not seem suitable to the normal Arab lifestyle are blocked. Even sites like Skype are blocked, because they give people the ability to call someone without having to pay, and Etisalat is also the sole telephone company.

So stop acting like China is alone here... Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, and many places in the Middle East are just like China. Most likely there are many countries outside the USA that censor the internet, and it's not all bad. It prevents the need for parental guidance software and makes the internet a safer and more pleasant place. I will say, however, it did make doing a project on Arial Sharon extremely difficult.

I think the quote is something like, "If porn was illegal, then only criminals would have porn" or something to that respect.

I always thought that the web should be split up in domains based on their content, so if you're looking for porn, go to a .xxx domain. If you're looking for games, go to a .gam domain. If you want to go shopping, .shop or .shp or .$$$

You get the idea...

The last 25 years of the life of Mao Tse Tung were spent having sex with a revolving cast of young nubile communism party girls in a mobile harem car of his private narrow gauge luxury train as in circumnavigated the territory of mainland China. Why bother to surf the net for porn when hot random chicks sharing your political views have sex with you in your private train suite ? One can only surmise that the current leaders of China are set up in situations based of Mao's fabulously decadent example.

be realistic, Mao died at age of 83. Last 25 years means 58-83.
99.99% human male can not do physical sex intercourse in most
time of this period.

Also, Mao is famous for his humble life (in contrary to your word
"decadent") and hard working. No matter what he had done, as
you can never sue Saddam Hussein for eating pork, you can
never blame Mao for decadent.

If China wants to delude itself into believing this, I say let them.
Seems all governments are a lot alike. They believe they can
control the internet. People will always find a way around to get at

This is good that their stopping some of these problems, but where is the citzen's right? Any government should not be able to tell you what you can look at and what not to see. Everyone should have a choice even if the choice is wrong. I think that is called freedom! If your government starts one thing, who says they won't take something else way later? It's just a matter of time until society all over reacts to the way of the unjust rule (or so called Big Brother).
