Senator Flip-Flop Scores again
by avanabs June 24, 2004 7:03 PM PDT
As a resident of Massachusetts, I've had first hand opportunity to observe Senator Flip-Flop over an extended period. The most interesting portion of this is his ability to be absolutely supportive of every side of every issue...then totally innefective in making anythign what-so-ever happen in congress.

My favorite headline, on the front page of a major Boston paper not too long ago, was when when Senator Flip-Flop did yet another of his overnight reversals. As a long time Massachusette high tech employee, I can also say without any doubt what-so-ever...THIS MAN IS NOT OUR FRIEND!

Kerry vs Bush on BPL?
by June 24, 2004 8:27 PM PDT
Reading about Kerry's talks about "broadband", I could not find out if Kerry is for or against Broadband over Power Lines (BPL). Bush said that he was for BPL. As a radio amateur (ham), I am a member of the ARRL and receive the ARRL Publication "QST". In the July 2004 issue of QST, David Sumner, ARRL secretary, wrote an editorial critisizing Bush for his recomendation of BPL at a speach that Bush made at the American Association of Community Colleges in Minnapolis on April 24. It is rare for policy makers at the ARRL to ever critisize any politician. Even the FCC technical experts are willing to admit that digital signals on power lines can be the cause of excessive radio interference which will cause problems for aircraft radios and other HF and VHF radio uses as well as hams. One must take care in expressing promotion of "Broadband" to define what is meant. If broadband means DSL over fiber-optic lines that is the best way to go, but BPL is going to be recognized technically as a blind alley.

Are you shocked
by TekSavvy June 25, 2004 3:10 AM PDT
As I read this story, it dawned on me; isn't this what all politicians do? They say the greatest things about the "right" subjects in front of the "right" crowd and after the election, well you know the rest... He's just telling them what they want to hear, as all politicians do.

Does this idiot realize that the state he represents has lost more high-tech jobs per capita then any other state in the country.
