First 5 song played were dead on as i listened
by inachu July 20, 2006 6:08 PM PDT
After that even if I started over the song played got worse and worse.

After giving thumbs down it dd not refresh fast enough to the next song and got sick of waiting for each change of music. I predict after the first 5 hit song it will be the same for most other users.

The negative side I dont like it doesn't have any world music yet like - Peppermint Tea House - Shoukichi Kina or trendy pop music from Korea, china, japan

Agreed, and how about some normalization?

Definitely the same experience for me. The first few songs can often be really great and in the style of the one you entered as the "template", and then it goes downhill fast. After an hour of listening, I've found myself listening to wildly different stuff than when I started.

Also, some form of gain control for the music volume should be an integral part of the service, in my opinion. My MP3 collection has all been run through MP3Gain to make them all sound approximately as loud, which means I can play them randomly and not have to leap for the volume control on every song.

Pandora, however, fluctuates wildly up and down during a listening session, so the leap-for-the-volume syndrome is alive and well...

I've found new music via Pandora myself, but it isn't entirely there yet, in my opinion.
Very Accurate Results

I've been using Pandora for awhile now, and I've rarely had to give out thumbs downs. My guess is that out of my first 50 songs I've only disliked 6 or 7 of them.
Pandora is a great way to find new bands or artists that play stuff you like. In fact, that's all I use it for. I'll listen to a station while playing a game(CS:S anyone?), and when i hear something I like, I add that band to a list to look into later.
Pandora is definately worth loking into.

Wasn't this on Tweed 6 months ago?
by stewdio July 20, 2006 10:06 PM PDT
Wait... Pandora is only seven months old? Really? Because Tim
Westergren did an interview with Tweed Magazine about Pandora
back in January of this year.

Great Service for Discovering Music
by sumwatt July 20, 2006 11:48 PM PDT
I've found Pandora to be a great resource for discovering music. Some of the more recent recommendations have been a little bit "out there" and I've been giving a lot of "thumbs down" to some of the songs, but I have close to a couple hundred songs flagged and saved. I've found (and refound) a lot of good music on the service that can't be found on many of the major-player radio stations (bands like Shellac, Sicbay, Big Black, and others)

Pandora Rocks.

I wrote about it on techborg here: http://techb.org/2006/07/21/pandora-open-this-box-and-discover-great-music/

Its the absolute best music player I've used, no two doubts abt it - and thanks to pandora, I have discovered so many new artists which I could never have.

Great all around
by StudioUES July 21, 2006 10:01 AM PDT
Pandora's great. Tim's great. I'm a fan all around. I attended the meetup in NYC, and it was really evident that this was and is a labor of love, with the goal of promoting music discovery unbiased by popularity or payola taking precedent over monetizing the venture. I posted a summary of the meetup here if you're interested http://studioues.blogspot.com/2006/06/funny-thing-happened-on-way-back-from.html.

Great - but couldn't they normalize?

Otherwise it is definitely a good idea though, I've found new music via Pandora myself.
