Apple Seems to Own Digital Music

iPod and iTunes. A great combination that does not have any
competitors. When I goto the gym, about 3 years ago, I had
maybe one of 5 iPods I could see in the time that I went. Now
when I go, there are more iPods than I can count. And the
combination is why. So far, no one has come close to beating this
duo.

that iPods are everywhere. I've been paying attention and don't exactly see the same trend. I take the subway in Chicago, and there are more iPod ads (there are several in every station) than there are people using these things. Same at the gym I go to.

Why no mention of car tie in?

The article does not mention that Apple also announced three car manufaturers in Japan will ship cars with an iPod interface to their audio systems.

Seems to me that car salesmen stating "All our cars come with an iPod interface." will do more for iPod sales than the iTMS Japan will. Want to plug an MP3 player into your car? Get an iPod and simply plug it in... or hack it yourself.
