bar cameras?
by thisisapainintheass February 19, 2008 11:46 AM PST
Is nothing safe from internet snooping anymore? What is next? Cameras in the rest room?

I think this is a terrible idea! Sleaze on an exponential growth curve!

Sounds like a stalker's dream
by iBuzz February 19, 2008 12:12 PM PST
This has to be one of the dumbest ideas ever. Mark my words... within a year, there will be a story about how someone was raped or murdered in a parking lot because some stalker saw them on a bar web cam. Then, you'll have a public outcry about taking down public web cams. You know it's going to happen. So, why play it out? Just get rid of the cams in bars now.

right first time, probably a voyeur's idea in the first place
Got more bar cams in my Vidfeed Pavilion. LOL
by CyberWoLfman February 19, 2008 1:35 PM PST
These guys could only find a few bars, and the most of them are just like mini television commercials, not really live feeds like you'd expect from a webcam. I was very disappointed. In my 3D world, I have about 80 live vidfeeds from all over the world (still picture of the Vidfeed Pavilion before I added another ring from my personal site: cyberwolfman.com/vidfeeds.jpg) including TGI Fridays, the Hard Rock Hotel, a bar in Key West, a cafe on a dock in San Francisco, a pizzeria in Utah, a cafe in Switzerland, an Internet cafe in the philippines, a beach resort in Aruba, and a restaurant in Bali, Indonesia.

Thought about doing something like this myself, a while back, and was asking the people who worked in the bars if they had a webcam for the place, but, decided on the Vidfeed Pavilion instead of putting all that on one page. Even put in some goofy ones like to Lock Ness. ;-)

If these guys can't find more than a few bars to get feeds from they're really not trying . . .

Where I wouldn't go....
by Mergatroid Mania February 19, 2008 5:31 PM PST
I don't go to bars much, but I do go to restaurants.

For sure, I would not go to a restaurant where thousands of strangers could be gawking at me while I'm eating.

You can say goodbye to privacy. With all the cellphone cameras, and now this, where will people be able to go (other than home) to get a little privacy?

I'd hope all restaurants would post a sign you can read BEFORE you sit down and order.

Old news

This is OLD news. There was a bar in Ft.Lauderdale that was doing
this at least 10 years ago. You could call the bartender and have
him move the webcam for you.
