Comments on: MySpace blocks Photobucket videos and slide shows

Will the decision to ban content from photo-sharing site spill over to the scores of companies catering to MySpace users?

It figures

Most of the people on myspace host their pictures on photobucket. There's going to be a lot of stark profiles and angry teenagers.

You are mistaken.

The block only affects videos and slideshows, not images.
Leave MySpace.

It's that simple.
Consumers are king and what they decide to do is the most important thing.

Buy your own web site

Quit complaining about the lack of or usability of features of a free site. If you don't like it, buy your own, and customize it to your heart's desire.

Two versions of the story
by No_Man April 11, 2007 11:48 PM PDT
Which is more plausible:

1) MySpace irrationally and intentionally risked alienating thousands of users by blocking Photobucket without any discussions.

2) MySpace discussed Photobucket's violation of their TOS with them (knowing it was in their best interest to work out an agreement) and Photobucket decided to instead bully MySpace into capitulating by refusing and publicly slandering them.

I'd say #2 by a long shot.

Stuff Myspace

What's more useful? Give me photobucket. Myspace is turning into trash anyway. Tried to Google names from myspace lately? Can't, they've blocked Google too.

How about smaller sites like EngageMe?
by mesonto April 15, 2007 8:53 AM PDT
I use EngageMe.com to create my interests profile and then export it to my Myspace page. Is this next? This 'plugin' seems very non-obtrusive, a lot less so than photobucket. How do MySpace make their decisions? Because sooner or later what will I be able to place on my MySpace page? I won't have anything less, and it is not like MySpace has all the answers.
