I like it

It seems a lot more stable then the previous version. I actually
upgraded last week and have been pretty impressed with it.

But does it still suck?
by skeptik September 6, 2006 6:32 AM PDT
Every version of Creator I've used since 5 has caused issues with my computer and conflicts with other programs. Seems Roxio is one of those companies that thinks they own your computer and assume you want thier program to rule and totally take over your computer. If you can dedicate a PC to this program, it works pretty well.
I've never had these problems with Nero and since the features and price are the same, Nero has been a no-brainer.
I've found others have shared my experiences as well.

On the other hand

I have been using Nero Ultra 7 the latest version and one day it works great but the next it's destroying my dvd's that I try to burn with. The Nero support team takes forever to return a response (if ever).

And as far as taking over your computer. If you install the full suite everything else takes back seat.

Now I just tried Roxio's photosuite 8 with support for making DVD still videos and music and had no problem whatsoever. A simple thing NERO has problems with.

I have even requested returning the photosuite 8 to Roxio and gotten an instant credit and will no purchase their new Easy Media Suite 9.
How Many Times Will They Peddle the Same Old, Same Old?

Version 4, 5, 5.5, 6, 7, 8, and now 9. If you are just ripping and burning cd's how many more times do they think I will pay for basically the same program? Oh, the new one works with Vista and Ipod! Whatever I have on my Ipod is already on my hard drive so what's the point? How does it work with Ipod in a meaningful way? And Blue-ray? So what? How many people have HDVD's anyway? If you don't have a Blue-ray HDVT player/recorder again this will serve me how? Who says that will be the next DVD formay anyway? Anyone remember Beta VHS?
For what I use their program for I could have quit buying the "new improved versions" 5 years ago!

More features eliminate side programs need
by ronloone October 24, 2006 3:21 PM PDT
I just uprgraded my mobile phone and found that you need a side program for transfers, ringtones, etc. Roxio did the right thing and added those functions since so many more people are using phone media. The disc authoring is as solid as ever, but I don't need blue-ray nor high def right now. Of course the hardware prices may come down and I may add it. I also noticed the video and menu creator have more functions. The suite can't replace a really high end video editing program, but it can make decent projects. Overall I feel it is a good complete suite with better than average programs, much better than other companies stripped down versions.

Always found them stable
by sammavee October 26, 2006 5:05 PM PDT
My last version was 7.5 and that was really good. I want to make set top dvds so I bought the package version of 9. The performance is excellent. Except for the video editing, the other features run quickly. My pc could use an upgrade so I know that any video editing can be slow. I was also thinking of getting a dual layer dvd burner, but the compression features can really shrink the media size so you can fit almost double the normal amount.

Impressed with 8 so will 9 be worth it?
by shangidm October 28, 2006 3:39 PM PDT
I use version 8 weekly since it has utilities as well as media programs. 8 was comprehensive so I'm wavering on 9. 9 has portable player support, ringtones, more menu creation graphics, etc. It also seems to have better editing programs since roxio learned from the last version. With a rebate it may be worth the investment.

don't believe the negativity

As an 8 and now 9 user I don't know what the problems are with others. I've done some quick and some complex projects with the software. I would say that it is made to appeal to general users so you don't need to be a specialist.
