VLoggers and Mainstream Media Question
by manifestdignity June 11, 2006 5:58 PM PDT
I wonder how soon journalists will start asking the "is this competing with our turf" question that they've been asking about bloggers?

For some interesting blur coming from the mainstream side, see Link TV's vlog coverage of Yearly Kos: http://www.linktv.org/yearlykos/

Also, see Fora TV: http://www.fora.tv/

I agree that amateur content does not compete in a vacuum with pro content. However, there is a good deal of content on the internet that the mainstream media/networks/establishment does not easily embrace.

Young Turks TV is a great example of this (http://www.theyoungturks.com). Watching this a more interactive version of any political show you can watch on regular TV.

I'm sorry, but you just can't pop some video up on the net with bad audio, washed out video, and amateurish reporting and expect to compete with the mainsteam media. There's no real money in blogging, there won't be any in "vlogging" either.

And I just have to say.... that gal from Rocketboom is the most annoying person I've ever seen!
