It's really not a subscription service.

If you get a bulk price for buying a fixed number of episodes, then it's not a subscription service. You don't lose anything when you unsubscribe but you never got much to begin with. This sounds like false advertising on Apple's part.

...and I don't feel like explaining it to you. But for $0.63 per
episode this sounds like a much better deal than it used to be.
Hopefully more networks will start using this pricing scheme in
iTunes and elsewhere.

Pieces of Shows?

Funny thing too - I was just talking about this exact scenario with
my fiance a couple weeks back - with the Colbert Report in
particular, but I would rather subscribe to just receive "The Word"
rather than the whole show -sort of like carving a single out of an
album I guess.

I would pay $4 a month to get that one section of content from
each show - am not sure about $10 for the whole show, but that is
a personal preference with each show I suppose...
