- Sure, it sounds cool - podcasting with video instead of audio. And yes, it's technically possible. But video doesn't serve the same purpose as audio.

(4 Comments)Most of these vidcasts will just be talking heads, a person in front of a camera. That's not interesting enough to warrant the extra effort to produce, distribute, download and watch video. You can get the same thing with audio.
Plus, you can't watch your favorite vidcast while you're driving to work or watching your kid's baseball game. But you can listen to a podcast.
Audio is just as powerful as video in this situation, and even more flexible. Vidcasting will serve some good purposes, but podcasting isn't going away any time soon.
