Nice idea, but I've been seeing an increasing number of ISP's
placing restrictions on accounts. The common one applicable
here is "no server software of any kind".

Besides, The Palace and The Manor already let people download
server and client software and build their own worlds, running
the server software either on their own machines, or having it
hosted by a number of hosting providers.

The VRML and X3D chat developers have been at this for years. Not peer to peer, but online collaboration, locally built worlds, meetings in virtual spaces, voice-enabled chat, live concerts, podcasting radio stations, even avatars having intimate relations.

Nothing new about this.
