MSN what?
by SparXXXie December 13, 2004 12:25 PM PST
MSN released 'desktop search' beta software? I
thought that 'desktop search' was supposed to be
implemented in Longhorn? They should have used
this technology and implemented it into service
pack 2.

Tried it and works awesome

I have tried my hands at Google's and Copernic's offerings and the MSN one works best. It indexes faster, has a good silent mode and gives amazing display of the search results. the deskbar is a valuable tool for launching searches (you can configure it to search google as well) though i dont like it occuping space on my taskbar. Overall a commendable effort

Why not

Maybe I'm just a pessimist, but I won't use it, just more food for spyprograms, now they know what you search on your harddrive too.

Again a big company trying to win customers, I've decided long ago, that I will only rely on companys which are a little bit more specialized on their product. With this strategy I've made some pretty good choices, concerning the Desktop search I found lookeen, a great tool. Very often little companys make very good tools.
