Google maps now are used by tax divisions to see what you're doing on your property, assessors to increase your taxes or check your compliance, and nosy people everywhere else to snoop on other people. There was an Outer Limits show that featured a viewer supplied by an alien to destroy our society from within. Between YouTube, cellphones, and google-earth, we will accomplish this ourselves. What our society will look like in a few years with this lack of privacy is anyone' s guess. No longer can you make a single mistake, bend a rule slightly , or have a decent rant without it captured forever to follow you for all time. Its not big brother we should fear, but fear of our anonymous neighbors who have no souls.

Take a valium and get a grip. The government doesn't use "illegal wiretaps." They certainly don't use them on insignificant people like YOU. They use legal wiretaps on people with known ties to organized crime and terrorism. With literally TRILLIONS of phone calls each year, the government neither has the time, resources, or inclination to tap into ordinary conversations. The government cannot even translate the millions of pages of arabic intelligence they HAVE intercepted. Conspiracy theorists always buy into the fallacy of the omnipotent government. Never ascribe to conspiracy that which can be adequately explained by incompetence. You are millions of times more at risk from the sex offender next door than some GS employee who might stumble upon your international call with a suspicious keyword in it.

The only problem I see is the accuracy, for example when I type in my address, the map shows the house 3 doors down from me.
