Comments on: Steve Wozniak out of line at iPhone store?

Contrary to reports, some customers say the Apple co-founder didn't wait in line all night for the iPhone 3G, but instead cut in front at the last minute.

People, read Woz's response (top of page 2) please.

The journalism standard says you have to check both sides of the story first before making it out like this. This "news" actually shows why blogs cannot be considered journalism.

Woz told me in an interview the night before that the people in the front of the line at the Valley Fair Apple Store were holding a place for him.

OMG! What he should've done was pull out a key at 7:30 and let himself, and his buddies, in!!!

A man responsible for there even being an Apple Store, let alone an iPhone, should've been carried into the store on the backs of all the people in line, who then should've offered to pitch in and pay for his iPhone AND asked if he wanted Grey Poupon with that! The ungrateful little..blankety-blanks!!

Woz could cut in front of me. If it were not for him we'd be stuck in a Windows only world of hell!!!

It was WOZ. True Apple fans, and a lot of us non-mac types who admire his contributions, would happily stand in line just to have him cut in front of us.
C'mon, even socialists have to respect somebody, other than themselves.

Someone there should have used an old iPhone camera to take a video of the whole thing...oh, wait.

Woz is a certified Good Guy. Move along.

Hey, in New York, if Steve-o had pulled that stunt hundreds of people would have screamed "Hey, no jumping the line."

@AICAP -- A lot of what is wrong with this world today is comments like this that disrespect people of accomplishment. The guy co-founded Apple Computers. What have you done? Unless you are the founder of Sony or Microsoft, you probably don't need to speak anymore about his accomplishments. Someone of his stature does not need to constantly reprove themselves. He did it. It is his accomplishment and you can't take it away. Let's show some respect for people. Please.

As for the line cutting, I saw Woz on Leo Laporte's web cast the evening before and he is basically out there doing free PR for Apple. He said on that web cast he was going to this particular store at issue because the manager asked him to show up versus going to another one. I would think having the co-founder of Apple at your store for a major promotion is quite the big deal and I think he does these things because he genuinely enjoys getting out there.

Let's face it. He could have made a call and cut to the front of the line and you would have never known. He could have called and had them set up his phones and had an assistant deliver them. He did not have to go hang out at the store and jump the line personally. He also could have called Steve Jobs and they would have sent over anything he wanted. I think the Broussard's and the Apple bashing CNet need to get over it. Good grief.

Gee, I believe that Steve Wozniak is still officially an Apple employee... #1 or #2 I'd assume... I think that grants him a few privileges.

Maybe the Woz was just out for some fun?

Stupid article.

"What I do know is that Wozniak enjoys a positive public image in Silicon Valley. He's seen as the approachable and humble genius..."

I had no idea he was that popular. I used to work in a restaurant in Los Gatos, and we would all cringe whenever he and his wife showed up - vulgar, rude, demanding, incredibly messy, and lousy tippers.

If he did cut in line, then I guess he's still as much of a jerk as ever. But why would he even bother going to the store? I'm sure he's got connections.

Your trying to tell me EVERYONE in line could recognize "Woz" by sight? There was no one who said: "Hey *******, back of the line!" Oh, wait they're geeks. Assertiveness is not a trait they are known for. But ******** about something, that they ARE known for. Wouldn't you rather be the guy that tells Woz to wait like everyone else rather then the guy that lets him cut in line and complains to the internet later?

Ok... Not that my 2cents makes any diffrence but I am a Bill Gates Fan.... Yes... I love Vista!
I've never owned a mac... I would love to learn the diffrence, but for me it's all about money.
I'm disabled and on a fixed income. Sure I would love to know what the Macbook Pro is all about... it just not affordible to me. That Said... I love tech... I'm a Vista Fanboy, I've had nothing but good things from Vista.... I still watch and dream over the "Cool" factor of the whole mac thing. I would love to learn all about it.
Ok... because I love tech, I don't care what line I would be in ... it would be hard for me to stand in line for anything for hours... and if Waz, Steve Jobs or Bill Gates wanted to cut in front of me.... hell yeah! I would pee myself just to see one of these guys. For me it would be a dream come true! I have horrific pain in my hands and feet.... that cause great limitation in my life... At first glance you would never know... So remember things aren't always what they seem! Anyhow, Waz, Steve or Bill... I'll hold your place anyday!

I don't care who you are if you are cutting in. It is not cool. It doesn't matter whether you are picking up food stamps, a social priviledge gathering, the movies or buying an iPhone. I would still tell whoever to get at the back of the line. And it would **** me off if the guy in front of me would let someone get in, let alone with their entourage. It is cool Wozniak made some time to write an explanation, maybe the store manager should be written up for not taking in consideration the "common" people waiting over night. Specially when the activation process was a disaster.

You know for the people that are actually making a big deal about this, I can understand where you're coming from. Since we were all in Elementary school, there have always been 'unwritten line-rules' that basically say no cutting. But now, for the exception of the kids standing in line, the rest of you should stop whining and understand that not much is fair in the real world. Yes, powerful people walk all over you, spit on your face, punch you in the jaw, and etc... Why? Because they can.

This though is a different case. Complaining that one of the overlord's of Apple went to the front of the line to get his iPhone as the store opened is like complaining that Michael Jordan receives the first pairs of his shoe company's shoes - you knew it was going to happen. Woz was one of the guys who brought you the iPhone, iPod, blah blah blah, go thank him instead of telling a reporter about it. As many have said in previous comments (yes I read them all), he could have had it sent to him in no time but he instead went to pick one up at a store, go talk to him and get his autograph.

There is my 2 cents, enjoy.

Why doesn't that Malodorous Publicity seeking twit keep his big mouth shut.
If the Founder member of Apple wants to pull rank Why shouldn't he? after all without him the company and its inventions would not exist.
Sir you make me Sick

Woz is no ordinary celeb though. He FOUNDED Apple, and made the first machine. I would have given up my place for him.
