Search page on 'page not found' - Nothing new
by tygrus November 23, 2005 10:17 PM PST
Add-ins and adware have been doing it for years. I can't say off the top off my head and I clear it off with an adware remover (Spybot). I typically wan't the URL to stay put so I can check the spelling, make corrections, truncate the bad link or ask Google for a cached copy of a page removed. Redirection by browser, server or add-in due to HTTP errors are really frustrating and not friendly to this user.
How do you force a reload when you know the problem is temporary.

IE Redirect Fix

If you go into the registry to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\BAE and inside that key is a String Value named BAEUrl. If you change this to blank, IE will return a "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage" when the DNS doesn't return a site
