- "then let us also count Games for Windows" Please do since PC game sales are total joke these days compared to console games sales.

- The number of exclusive doesn't mean jack. I listed the number of exclusives that was any good! God of War 3 is not out yet, otherwise I would be playing it!

- "Your list on the X360's exclusives is also shorten. Notably, Halo and Halo 2, etc" First not my list, came from some console game web site that tracks that stuff.

Showing 2 of 2 pages (63 Comments)It's not only digital content delivery, holographic storage is also right around the corner. Not too mention there's this thing called the CB-HD (ex-HD-DVD) which is #1 in China. Considering the speed of consumer technology adoption happening in China right now, it looks like China Blue will "win" the format war. All these CB/HD/BR war is unnecessary since digital content delivery and holographic storage are the near future.
Those who cite a report on how consumers general want hard copies of movies rather than digital content delivery don't know the big picture. People has been watching digital cable/satellite television for years! And FiOS is capable of delivering IPTV. Not digital content? The whole basis of that report is flawed! Count the number of movies people has watched on TV and pay-per-view, and I can guarantee there is more movies watched from TV than movies bought!
More about the big picture. Studios haven't been streaming full length new releases. Most people's computers cannot hold more than 10 HD movies (20-30 GB). Studios stream full length new releases and people start getting terabyte hard-drives, of course, Americans (who's behind on internet connection compared to the rest of the modern nations) will think they prefer hard-copies of movies.
2. PS3 has good games and software?
Give me a break. Killzone 2, Resistance 1 & 2, Little Big Planet, and Metal Gear Solid are the only good exclusive games they got, and they probably would look better graphically on the XBOX 360! That's the problem. The "geniuses" at Sony apparently "DELIBERATELY" made the GL tough to code. In reality, the PS3 devs were were rushed into releasing the PS3 dev kit for the unnecessary HD-DVD/Blu-Ray format war. Hence, almost all if not ALL of the multi-platform games look better on the Xbox 360. If you can't agree with that, you must be blind!
On the system software side, have you tried the PS3 web browser? Go to the PS3 forum, and you'll see tons of people complain about crashes. How the hell do you crash an entire system with just the web browser? At least only Xbox 360 crashes due to hardware malfunction!
Like I have said, PS3 has great hardware, but the the software stinks!
3. If you count PS2 and PSP games, then let us also count Games for Windows.
After all, it's all DirectX.
SLAM!
4. Seems like everyone agrees that the TVs are way overpriced.

24 vs 30.
23 million PS3's sold worldwide, 28 million 360 sold worldwide. The Xbox 360 has a full year on the PS3 and major price cuts and yet its only sold 5 million more?
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PlayStation_3
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Xbox_360
The PS3 sold more in its first 2.5 years than the 360 did in its first 2.5 years. How will things change if the PS3 drops to $299? The defective return rate of the PS3 rate is 3%, the 360 is 30%.
Your list on the X360's exclusives is also shorten. Notably, Halo and Halo 2, etc.
PC Game sales may suck as a whole but you're forgetting WoW and HL2, etc. When Starcraft 2 comes out, I wonder which will sell more... SC2 or God of War 3.
Japanese people are patriotic enough to only buy Japanese electronics, hence, XBOX hasn't sold well in Japan, and Asian game developers also resides mostly in Japan, hence the lack of XBOX Asian games in Asia.
Also you're not counting the people who use the PS3 exclusively as a blu-ray device. In that case, I'll start counting the number of PCs out there.
I see you avoid talking about the consistent PS3 crashing for doing minor tasks.
P.S. I'm a owner of a PS3, PC, an Apple-made PC, and XBOX360. I have to question the validity of any of your comparisons. Fanboys are delusional.
You make a good point with the list of exclusives. Wile MS keeps dropping different variations of the same game over and over again, or drop exclusive like Banjo Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Pac-Man Championship Edition,
Castle Crashers; PS3 is dropping awesome exclusives like GoW, Killzone, and Infamous. Your list is ridiculous and misconstrued to try to make some weak attempt to justify your faulty system. Games that no one buys, DLC listed as games, and games that haven't yet been released is the best you can do?
By the way Ninja Gaiden II sigma, Warhawk 2, Savage moon, SOCOM, and you can just WIKI or look up the rest. I'm done with this.
Second Halo and Halo2 were Xbox games and while they run on the 360, they came out before the 360. Halo 3 is a 360 only game, wont run on the older Xbox. If we count non platform specific exclusives then for the PS3 owners that have the model that will play PS2 games, the list for the PS3 would be huge.
re: #1 Blu-Ray - You might be right about future storage formats.... no moving parts would be great... but we're talking about the reality of here and now. In North America, any kind of D/L or streaming is just a fantasy for computer geeks until the ISPs get with it and deliver reasonable bandwidth for reasonable prices (which we've already paid for in tax breaks to them, BTW... but they've never delivered.... see http://www.newnetworks.com/ShortSCANDALSummary.htm)
re: #2 software - First, you forgot Warhawk... probably the best game of all time on any platform.... but your stuff about PS3 being hard to develop for is just B.S. from lazy developers... don't believe it. They just want to do their development on the PC and have quick port ability to as many platforms as possible. Since PS3 didn't play along with that strategy, many have black-listed it. The truth is though, most of these games aren't worth playing anyway... more marketing hype than anything... just look at the bargain bins a few weeks after each is released. For the most part, the exclusives are where it is at. Also, the stuff about GL is also baloney... GL subset of OpenGL... can't get much more standard that than that. The reason many of these titles look better on the Xbox has nothing to do with capability... it's simply lazy developers... again, just look at the exclusives. As for the web browser, sure Sony could make huge improvements on that... but do most people really use it? Even if it were as good as Safari or Firefox, I'd still do 95% of my browsing on my computer.
