Comments on: YouTube, Sony Pictures in talks over feature films

The Google video site continues to pursue full-length content from major motion-picture studios and TV networks. Sony Pictures' Crackle wants a big audience.

That would be interesting. I have very high bandwidth at home but it is still not quite ready to play real HD videos, but then I am used to playing Blu-ray DVDs so naturally it is not quite comparable yet at this point. I do like the fact that there are more clips on Youtube that are better resolution though. That has been pretty nice. :)

You won't see HD over the Internet anytime soon. But there is lots of content that looks just fine in SD.

While YouTube is pushing for premium content and looks like it is trying to turn into the next Hulu, amateur producers that are currently using the video sharing site to publish their content might want to look closely at what's happening. Soon, it seems that the only videos we?ll see in the YouTube ?most viewed? will be blockbuster films and prime time shows. Maybe it?s time for independent content owners to move beyond YouTube and take more control of their content and audience?and make some money from their online video.
