Sythara there are blogs for people like you and the few who backs you up here we are a humane party here. we belive in humanity. why dont you join a party thats inhumane, you are fighting for which cause we are fighting for depressed humans cause here, and most of us will try to stop a person who feels to kill themselves, maybe a lot of people here could identify with this youth and other human like him, the people here are close to nature and down to earth anf friendly here 'its selfish to try to inflict your wounds on them. Oh if you want to die then die, you might be a person who needs help yourself, maybe I should not blame you because you yourself is so arrogant and wont help your neighbour as an individual unless he is blowing up others, I dont know how to believe that? because he himself is being blown up its ok the world is so small that when one things happen it affects the whole world. There is no place to run no place to hide humans eveywhere every every where lets live in love its love that make the world go round where ever you may go or be.

I don't know all the details of this, because I don't usually do You Tube. I only know that I found my son hanging from the rafters in our garage. This is disgusting and enlightening at the same time. I can not imagine anyone watching this without call the police. I guess some people get a kick out of someone who is hurting themselves. Crisis intervention, sometimes it works, and sometimes it does't. My son was with a counselor who let him go and two weeks later is when I found him. When I called the counselor, he said "sometimes we save them, and sometimes we don't ." That was so unprofesssional, that to this day, 18 years later, I could just scream.

The thing that is bugging me is I know now that depression is way beyond sadness its worse than that its a feeling for the inexperience:You just feel low and helpless at times this is how he might have felt. Priority some people who is suffering from severe depression should not be left alone for a second while suffering because you never know I can see now its a disability lets hope if anyone is depressed its not for a long time thats if it gonna happen. Its best when you put a fight to snap out of it as well at times. By now you might know that hauling yourself to the bath, forcing to put on some clean clothes and make up will help as well according to your stage, you can find your own coping mechanism, the drugs can kill you too, as seen with this young man you should not be given the drugs it should be left in the care of someone you trust instead, you should not be forced to study as seen by this young man, because you already have to cope with your depression, he needed TLC thats the words and people who wanted to be there for him, until he could cope, he did not need this crazy, depressed bloggers who is probaby suffering in silence themselves, they don't even know what to say to him, yes obviously they do not know right from wrong, and the ones who hurt him he forgave them a long time ago he said it himself. I dont blame him he is simply a product of our environment, we all depressed people in one form or the other, mild-severe who knows, some of us find that egging him on made their depression better or make them a more better or stronger person its a cry for help for the people who was egging him on too. we have to help them those of us who understand that they dont know right from wrong at this stage or don't care what make them dont care perhaps its depression as well
May god bless us all we so need it. Its nice to have the love of jesus it is so visible when you know jesus: there is something different about you something others cant comprehend, they want, that is knowing the love of god and then you pass it on dont be jealous get it believe me when you get it others will know they will know by your love that you are a human and(christian)Amen, You see depression is not just a female thing, evev some of the things people write here you could read it and see if they not depressed they are mental. read along and see.

Nothing like adding fuel to the fire! what if it was your sister, brother, father i know from personal experience. he was looking for a go ahead type of thing, and he got it from some of the viewers. the people who are so cold and careless must not have had anything REAL BAD happen to there family but it will. if your standing on the edge of a cliff saying your going to kill yourself should i push? i am the type of person that is not afraid to ask can help.

This isn't gsmillers fault... nor is it the fault of the "internet" or "bloggers" the guy had a problem... Suicide is a serious problem amongst teens, it always has been. I know people that have killed themselves and others that have tried to kill themselves. Not a pretty picture. Some times it IS for attention! Cutters, drug abusers, a lot of it is a cry out for help and or attention.
I hope that guy's family is doing all right and all I can do is say my thoughts are with them during a very dark time in their lives.

In all honesty, I really wonder what it is justin.tv could have done. How many people/podcasts do they have to watch? And exactly what good would it be if, say, the person was going through a proxy? Maybe justin.tv develops some sort of notification system, but ultimately, if somebody wants to broadcast their suicide to the world they will. And this sounds heartless and my thoughts are to the family, but that is on this guy and him alone.

As a way out or a solution, suicide is generally decried by religious authorities as a sin. Certainly religious discipline can help create moral values which would prevent many suicides (that is unless one is studying at the feet of Jim Jones and drinking grape Kool-Aid). However, in spite of this, suicide is often the result of a lot of complex factors intersecting to reach ?critical mass? in an individual, causing self destruction. This destruction can be sudden with a gun, a jump or pills, or it can be slow with a lot of deliberate bad choices.

Complicating the current situation is a man who, from previous posts, seems entirely incoherent, disjointed threatened to kill himself before and as some pointed out, a ?troll.?

Was he REALLY trying to commit suicide or play a (another) joke? It?s all fun and games until someone loses an eye. Some things probably should NOT be joked about or encouraged--playing with fire in a barn full of hay, mishandling firecrackers, standing on the edge of high buildings threatening to jump?

Regardless of previous threats and non-action, apparently some things should be taken seriously no matter what and the right action is to call the authorities, as some did. If, for the sake of argument the guy actually was consuming M&M?s and pretended to choke, and the cops showed up, well a lot of explaining and perhaps fines?

ALL OF YOU ARE DOING EXACTLY WHAT HE WANTED...TO BE NOTICED. That is all he wanted and he got it. This is what he set out to do. Not the way I would have gone about it to get attention but hey different strokes for different folks. As far as being sympathetic for him...NO! He was gonna do it whether you wanted him to or not. You need to point blame at his friends and family for not seeing the signs and getting him some help. Justin.tv and bodybuilding.com are not suicide prevention sites so I am pretty sure they and their members are not responsible for stopping this. Anonymity can be a very powerful destructive thing but we can't very well blame that now can we.

By the way, ISLANDSAINT. Nobody wants to hear your uneducated responses to everyone who voices their opinion. If you don't have a legitimate argument then ****!

I'm glad that at least some of you have some sense. Firstly, most people have been unhappy (some significantly unhappier than others) at some point in their lives, but relatively few people commit suicide. Some people seek help, some people actively do something to change their lives around, and others sulk or seek negative attention. He did the latter. Secondly, regardless of how he felt or what he did, and regardless of what those around him did or did not do, he and he alone is responsible for what happened. If you ask me, he was a martyr/ attention wh*** type who, instead of seeking legitimate help, goes around feeling sorry for himself hoping that others will feel sorry for him as well. Judging by his history on that site of making empty claims and threats, it's totally understandable why none of them took him seriously. Thirdly, comments like "I told you I'm hardcore" are just ridiculous. They are not the cry for help of tortured sole, but rather the "why won't anyone take me seriously?" whine of a weak, immature cry baby who can't handle the stress of life.

It's just shame that more people in this country respond to news stories like this than they do real oppression and hardship in the world. Honestly, there are people facing all kinds of sh** in other countries (i.e. genocide, starvation, torture, rape, etc.). Why do we care about some guy who couldn't handle his sh** in middle class U.S.A.? Furthermore, when did we get the idea that everyone in this country or on this planet should survive no matter what? The weaker of different species die all of the time, in nature, and I'm really not losing any sleep over this unfit, unfortunate weakling. Obviously, I also object to calling him a "victim." He is a victim of his own weak consitution and that's it.

very caring indeed I cant expect you to help me then if I need help so maybe I should judge that everyone is like you since I am losing all sense of reasoning at this minute and might or might not do something silly very encouraging you made my day how you so smart. Now I know not to ask fro your help but to do it if i have poor judgement maybe you was one of those people do you ever notice a mental person and the things they do according to which category they are in I will pray for you some of them are like him some are good, some are bad some are vindictive to the human race and we still dont know they mental even sitting at their workplaces how can I make this person unhappy thats mental mentalty..

This suicide incident is a perfect example of how the nature of instant real-time media on the net has sunk to a new low. Its much worse and equaly so as that of reality tv. IMHO the viewers of that video on justin.tv who egged him on to commit suicide should be just as gulty for manslaughter becuase they took part in participating in the incident. Viewers sent messages to the victim to urge him aganst his will to force him to cause his own suicide.
I'm sorry but I dissagree with those say that the viewers aren't guilty of manslaughter. Manslaughter is a premediatated crime in which one person kills another person by attack, force, violence, poisoning even forcing the person against their will to kill themselves. That's exactly what the viewers did to the vitim of this haneous crime: they urged him to do it. These people are missing the point here. The viewers themselves could have urged him not to take his own life and reasoned with him to do so.
They had the power to do so. They could have alerted their local police, of which some did, to the crime alert bulletin board.

thanks for the post! i've checked justin.tv and i'm really amazed that these people did such a good job. too bad it doesn't have the latests tv shows like gossip girls. wish also the quality would be the same as on cacaotv where you can watch free movies and TV shows online (over there : http://www.cacaotv.com). but at least these websites are better than torrent pirate bay because they are legal!
