Yahoo! needs a new leader that will Disrupt and use White Space to chart a new course. Someone who will compete with Google and improve the web for all of us. Certainly not Microsoft - a new leader wtih the moxie to compete. Read more at http://www.thephoenixprinciple.com

Yahoo is no longer what it used to be... They killed everything trying to appease the U.S. Government, The Chinese Government and the French Governments..... It will be no loss... The Microsoft deal was a lot to do about nothing both would continue to trail google for years to come. Yahoo's price inflated due to speculations about how much people could get for the shares should the deal go through. And then it hit $33 dollars a share which was only a dollar off from the $34 dollars a share and those that wanted to cashed out by then. Not to mention ALIBABA.com says if the deal goes through they will ask for their shares back anyway... The Microsoft deal was a lot of inflated hot air by those jokers at Microsoft that still can't compete with Yahoo and thus want to kill the brand and force everyone onto their garbage.

Yahoo=brand in search of a product. Not only is it not worth $33/share....it's not even worth $3.33/share. Yang was a great marketer....he needs to find work in that field and leave the running of companies to folks who actually understand fiduciary responsibility!

He was just in way over his head as CEO. Will he get a big compensation package for stepping down? I certainly hope not.

Jerry Yang should quit the tech industry and stop tarnishing his image as a Stanford wonder kid. He should focus on getting people out of Chinese prisons and hope to win a Nobel Peace Prize like Al Gore did.

I knew that is gonna happen! I knew it! Everyone in Yahoo! wanted to make the deal with Microsoft except him. Now Yahoo! is begging for Microsoft. The role has changed!

I think this is too little too late. Yang's already destroyed the company's real chances at success. Now it will only succeed by being picked apart by those waiting in the wings.

If anyone ever doubted that an ego can sink a company, the Yahoo! mess should be a lesson to them. It's one that Ballmer, Jobs, and others should seriously take a look at.

MSSlayer,
But Yahoo was going down the toilet, so to say Yang cared about the company is ironic. Yang was being selfish and did Yahoo a dis-service by NOT doing business with Microsoft. I'm glad to see Yang gone.

No way in hell Microsoft purchases Yahoo. Yahoo and Google couldn't even get a DEAL going without the stupidity that is the European Union getting into an uproar there is no way Microsoft could purchase Yahoo without a massive legal battle. Microsoft is trying to IMPROVE their image why in the world would they let the headlines be talking about the "evil giant" buying up another company??? No way.

MSFT isn't interested in buying Yahoo any more. There either going to wait for the stock price to drop further and buy out there search assets or partner to get msn search on yahoo. Either way Yang cost shareholders a lot of money and now he is paying the price for his arrogance.

I am so glad at the development of Yahoo/Yang. Mostly so that I don't have to see him in blogs every. single. day. There's an interesting article here

If Yahoo spent half as much time attempting to modernize their brand, as they do kissing up to scam artists, they would not be in the sewer. The Yahoo/Google Ad deal, which also fell through, was a sign of desperation and was the last straw for a rather patient board. They need to find a visionary to revamp the brand and prevent it from being sucked up and churned through the cybergrinder. Although, one can expect any sort of takeover action by one of the big boys will be looked at suspiciously by the DOJ's Antitrust crew.

FINALLY!

This guy knows not when to step away when he is way out of his own league. Inventing and programming is very different from running a business, much less a juggernaut like Yahoo!.

Google should buy them, if they haven't been negotiating behind the scenes by now. Yahoo has a much better online experience than Google outside of search and e-mail. Yahoo Notepad, Widgets, Messenger, Calendar, Briefcase and the other elements of the YahooSpace that Google doesn't have are what makes it interesting to Google.
