Nah, I want to have my 1984 snapshot of Van Halen during the David Lee Roth period and Prince during 1999 and Purple Rain. This constantly evolving view is fine for a "web site" of who the band is right now and how they relate to their creative past, but a web site is much different from "an album".
3EB.com is a pretty good band website, but I must say that I'm sick of all the gimmicky band web sites that are so "pretty" with flash and design. Ultimately, they are hard to navigate and distract from the product. Give me music, pictures, video, news, blogs, tour date, discography, merch and axe the high dollar, low functionality design steps. After the first time to the site, it annoys virtually everyone.
