Comments on: Will Kindle sales spike because of 'Oprah effect'?

Oprah gives the thumbs-up to Amazon's e-reader on her show, but does she still have the audience to make a difference on sales?

It was shameful to see that lame Kindle unit hawked as an infomercial on "Oprah". She gushed like it was the next iPod. Of course, she didn't point out the myriad faults with it, certainly not with Bezos sitting there. And the chix in the audience who got one free of course exhibited emotion on par with the birth of a child. Out of control lunacy. Just amazing.

Absolutely!!! My mom, who is not tech savvy at all, called me about this amazing new product she saw on Oprah. I had to tell her its been out over a year already! I have a feeling she already ordered it!

Looks like Oprah is on track to become P.Diddy hawking products and what ever they say goes. How soon until Oprah says that McD's is open late?

Oprah likes the Kindle because it allows her to read conveniently (and, no doubt a bit, because tech can be fun). I'm not sure why people get upset with the promotion of nice and convenient tech such as this, in that fashion.

Will it lead to greater sales (the "Oprah effect")? Perhaps some added interest, but unlikely as to any great amount of enhanced sales, given the Kindle's cost and requirement of tech comfort (this ain't a $20 book). Now if Amazon just would round off many of the rough edges of the device, and make a truly consumer-friendly and stylish device.

I doubt that the sheep who follow "O;s" advice even know about Cnet or that there are other E-readers on the market or will compare them. Perhaps Amazon may just be overstocked with the current version and plan on coming out with a new one. "O" know show business however other then that , She don't know JS
