me!!!
Oh well, I won't be buying my MacBook until October anyway..
After managing PCs and Macs for many years I've found that most people who buy a Mac never use any Windows programs. Virtual PC was never a big seller, and boot camp is more useful to gamers than anyone else.
We have several Macs in our company that share a single XP machine (via Remote Desktop) for the rare times when they need a Windows program, but no one has logged on in months.
But don't get me wrong, I like Microsoft Windows. If all our computers were as trouble free as our Macs most of my staff would be out of work.
This year I intend to get a new dual Core Duo box (I only wish that I could justify the 8-core beastie to the missus...) What ever it has, it has; 10.4 by all accounts is solid.
At least I know that won't be using a [b[five year old OS, or wondering why the box is so awful slow or buggy (e.g. Vista) when I get my new machinery. ;)
/P
At least I have it *now*, I know when there is a vulnerability so I can take measures before it is fixed in less than 1 month instead of having them anyway but denied and fixed 6 months later, I don't have Month of Apple Bugs (http://projects.info-pull.com/moab/) and I don't have to restart my machine every 15 minutes whenever I want to play a game or run Windows-only software (most of software anyway). ;)
If i'd walk a mile for better taste, i also would wait 6 mo for superior product :) there's nothing wrong with current system that would justify a sloppy hurry anyway. Thats [hurry] a wall st illusion.
I wish, for the other Co. sake that they had waited. It's unreasonable for market anylysts to be able to pressure Computer companies into a too early release. Maybe Apple will make this clear when Leopard is Released, bugless & others catch on to the wisdom.

- Apple relies on Gadgets, and no accounting practices that or, oh shall we say, creative.

Showing 2 of 2 pages (154 Comments)The iPhone and iPod are actually really interesting gadgets, but they are not going to be able to save Apple's butt for long.
Give credit where credit is due, Apple is an interesting company but they actually are their own worst enemy.
Even Apple realizes that they cannot compete with Windows or Linux in the desktop world, and especially the server world, so they must promote gadgets, albeit very cool gadgets, to remain afloat.
In the end, all you loyal OS X users will suffer so that Steve can battle in the courts for trademarks he attempts to hijack, and so that he can devote is attention to the R & D of phones and MP3 players.
I laugh at this, because while MS continues to get slammed by all you MS haters, they continue to provide the consumers and businesses what the need and what they actually want!
Oh, and as for cost? You can pay a LITTLE more for the OS up front with MS, or you can pay a LOT more for everything else with Mac. Linux? Ya, Linux .... which flavor (among thousands, LOL).
MS is highly profitable, which means that every single person that buys a Windows based PC can rest assured that MS doesn't need to sell MP3 players to stay alive.
Go ahead and make fun of MS, they have helped me make a lot of money, and they have helped a lot of business become more profitable. Apple? They have great MP3 players and possible a nifty little phone. Big whoooop!
