Vista ships, stripped down PC's only.

I just called Dell to order a XPS 710 with Vista. Unfortunately if you want a NVidia video card you can't have it yet and Dell has no idea when it will be available. They will, of couse, send it with XP Media and you can update to Vista later. Nice job Microsoft and NVidia. Apparently 5 years was not enough time to get ready for this release.

I want to hear the rest of the tech world what they think.
Can't really test Vista on those demo store pc's as the strongest app they have installed is solitare.

Where is my 64-bit OS
by JAW 1ST January 30, 2007 5:56 PM PST
Microsoft's literature said both the 32 and 64 bit version would be on every disk, so I ran into Best Buy after work and grabbed a copy of the Vista Business Edition upgrade and headed home.

Now when I open the package I discover that this is only the 32 bit version and I need to log onto another web site to get the 64 bit version that I really wanted.

Yes, I should have read the box more closely, but I had invested a lot of time reading everything that MS put out in advance. Their documentation said BOTH Version on EVERY DISK.

And to an insult to injury, the web site does not load. What a surprise.
