Comments on: Microsoft reorg a bulwark against Google?

Search giant's expanding roster of Windows-free Web services may be factor in shuffle. Software on demand is an issue too.

Except that last time I checked, Google Desktop, Google Talk, Picasa, etc. only run on Windows, and until very recently the Toolbar only ran on IE (the Firefox version is in beta right now).

I didn't know that. Missing MacOS and Linux is just stupid if they do want to compete with Windows. Weird.
Web Services

I don't see how Microsoft can dominate in the area of Web Services. MSN has not been wildly successful. In the web based services world, the playing field is equal. Little guys can compete with big guys, and some like Google, come out of nowhere to become dominant in a short period of time. While I think MS is going to continue to be around, I think its days of total dominance over the industry are on the downhill slide.
