Smart move. Just give it to the Indian and Chinese Community and watch what happens. But, Sun should setup a point person to coordinate all those activities.

Sun should use bittorent for dowloading ISO images.

The download speed of the Solaris ISO images
ranges between stalled (most of the time) and
10KB/s (kilo byte per second).
When I download Mandrake with bittorent I get a
download speed of around 240KB/s.

I always love to see SUN's CEO yapping and complaining about how the company cannot make money. And now it decides to give things away for free? Nice move.

i notice that trying to download the "educational edition" of the developers tools from microsoft.com often seems to go at about the same 0-10 kbps rate, versus 200K/s + on windowsupdate.com ...

perhaps this is these corporations way of letting us know what they really think of free software :-)
