Microsoft desperate?
by MaxPower() November 16, 2004 8:44 AM PST
The fact that Microsoft is willing to pay companies to switch to Windows sounds like a desperate and fearful company. If Windows was a solid server operating system with a clear ROI for customers, then there would be no need to make such a desperate attempt to convert customers. If NetWare was truly "dying" and Linux was such an "inferior" OS as Microsoft would like us to believe, then why would they even be concerned and why would they even spend so much money and effort to try to convince customers of this? The fact that I believe Microsoft is a very smart company and the fact they are making these moves against Novell convinces me even more that they truly see Novell as a threat and thus Novell must really have something going in order to wake the "sleeping giant". I guess there are two ways to win marketshare: (1) build great products and solutions that meet customers needs or (2)bribery.

More Editorialism from C(ZD)-Net
by NicholasDonovan November 16, 2004 8:44 AM PST
There are no indications of Novell ending NetWare. Instead they are actually broadening the base of use to multiple platforms.

The erroneous assertion that, "Microsoft sees the uncertainty surrounding NetWare's future as an opportunity to win more customers over to Windows Server 2003. Some Novell customers are concerned that the company's focus on Linux could result in the abandonment of NetWare."

So you're basing this on something that Microsoft said Ina?

I really wish C(ZD)-Net would quit the hero-worship of Bill Gates & Co.

It's OK. There will be life after Microsoft and Daddy Wargates stops telling you guys what to read, write and think.

Incredible. I've busted you guys so many time doing this garbage I've grown sick of it. Too bad no one at C(ZD)-Net has the guts to debate me in public. They would have their collective editorialist rear handed to them.

Notice I said editorialist, not journalist. You guys haven't been journalist since you decided to become Microsoft Cool-Ade Drinking Zealots.

Just My Cheery Opinion,

Nick
