Choices become more limited

Does this make anyone else feel like the noose is tightening? It's not going to be long, that if you want software in the business management arena you get SAP, Oracle or Microsoft. And the agenda, licenseing nightmares and restrictive practices they all bring to the table.

Additional viablity of open source cannnot happen to soon for my tastes. In fact I'm not so sure it's the noose I feel tightening or an orifice located much lower.

Cartoon

I can see a cartoon in the making...
Picture a prison shower with the poor customer bending to pick up the soap marked open source to clean himself well, whereas 3 big bad bullies, marked MSFT, ORCL & SAP are waiting with their big rods eyeing the orifice...unfortunately in all this consolidation, customer is getting screwed...

So who here besides Oracle and Microsoft thinks monopolies and oligopolies are a good idea?

Anybody?

Where the heck is a responsible government regulatory body when you really need them?
