I believe Ingres even uses the Sun CDDL license.

Why not Ingres?

PostgreSQL has a larger user base and is more
likely to sell Sun boxes. That is all. Sun is
a for profit company, and they saw PostgreSQL as
a good chance to help them make a little more
money. This is good. I just hope they
understand the value of sharing the code back to
the main codebase, and getting a little help on
it from people on other platforms. PostgreSQL's
BSD style license does not require that they
share their changes, but it is in their best
interest.

Red Hat has been marketing it's PostgreSQL based Red Hat Database for years. Nice to see Sun once again following the leader ...

What did Red Hat ever invent?

Red Hat is a joke. What did they ever invent? For the most part they haven't even contributed much to the product they sell support for.
