- Stop an entire assembly line or plant so they can pray? I know religion is very important to them but it doesnt fit with a modern work enviroment...

- The article mentions nothing of stopping an entire assemblyline. The article in fact mentions a "tag out" system Dell uses.

- give them an inch, they'll take a yard. They shouldn't be allowed in positions where they can disrupt or harm -- which is exactly what islam is all out to do!

- It may seem unimportant to you, but it is what matters most to them. While I am a non-believer, I still think workplaces do need to accomodate common customs and religions. I bet Dell would tolerate people who refuse to work all day Sunday. (I think they run a Mon-Wed / Thus-Sun watch system.)

"Dell uses a so-called tag-out system where a small number of workers depart work to pray and relieve others to do so upon returning."
I am curious if Islamics tolerate the staggard prayer however. Isn't it supposed to be done at sundown, not "sometime around sundown". (Any Islamics who read this I would love to know the answer.) Even so, I don't believe that Dell run all day and night so they could always let the Islamics work an hour longer.
