Comments on: Microsoft: iPhone lacks business savvy

Sure, it'll play tunes and look cool. But just try viewing Office documents on the upcoming Apple gadget.

What's going on at Microsoft?

You have to wonder what they're smoking in that company...

Does this guy honestly think that people jump to their cell
phones to write reports/memos/articles, ect. in Word on their
PHONE???

The iPhone has everything most business people use and need:
contacts, calendars, appointments, notes, email, web apps (via
Safari), etc...
AND THAT IS WHAT MOST BUSINESS PEOPLE DO WITH THEIR
PHONES. (Plus it's a friggin widescreen iPod!!!!)

You can't help but pitty Microsoft.

Everything you listed the iPhone can do, a Palm or Blackberry can do better. Why settle with the iPhone when you can select a Windows Mobile device which actually helps keep you productive.

Good luck typing on the screen! I would have written this post on a Blackberry by the time you would have written to "productive" using the iPhone.

Calendar and contacts? Sorry, but it is a Palm revolution that is actually better utilized than any other PDA or phone (or soon to be iPhone).

Please inform me when you see a businessman at work listening (and watching) movies and songs on his/her iPhone. Bet you won't see him/her the next day because he/she'll be out looking for another job. If an iPod is used to listen to music and it doesn't require eyes to hear, is it necessary to brag about a widescreen iPod? Not really.

I don't pity Microsoft and that's because they have been making the right moves in the business area of the market. This is why they are where they are. Sorry, but it's fact Jack.
Windows Mobile 6. That's whats going on

You bet they do, I see it all the time. They even use them to remote into computers using PCAnywhere. Yep, I've seen that too. BTW, I provide IT support to those business executives so I see it from the front lines. What do you think they're going to say to an iphone that won't synch to their corporate email and won't open office attachments?

Apparently someone doesn't know much about business use of a phone. Please give my your iphone and show me how i can put my excel document that i have on my work computer on the iphone. And i have too be able to edit it, read it and but it back on my work computer. And please with only a few quick clicks....... I didn't think so.
If you think the iphone can do all these things please write some informative and instructive articles on how we can do it.........Because I don't think I can figure it out on my own. Prove your right and help the rest of us out.

Ok. Lets all be real. The iphone and WM devices are for two completely different groups of people. WM devices have been on the market longer and have more programs and abilities available. Who knows maybe over time iphone will too. The problem with apple and such is that they will restrict the 3rd party software and abilities of the products for the iphone. This is not uncommon with other companies also like sony etc. The advantage to WM is that there is a endless variety of 3rd party applications for it. Yes, you can talk about the possibilities of the iphone but lets be real....that does not help me now does it! For example with iphone I believe you have to download songs much like ipods. WM allows you to transfer songs from cds etc that you have onto the WM device through Windows Media Player.
While I like the idea and Coolness of the iphone I find that currently it is not an all around "gadget man" device.
For example I have a Palm Treo 750 WM6 device. I run TomTom Navigator on it. Works exactly like the ones you would buy stand alone. Voice directions, touch screen etc. It cost me one initial purchase price. Not one of those $10 dollars a months charges with a crappy GPS if you can call it a GPS. I have Sling Box on my Treo. Yes, I can watch any channel I subscribe to at home on my cable box .....LIVE... and watch my DVR recordings. Not some $15 dollar a month pre-recorded or mobile version TV shows (whats that all about). Once again... One initial purchase then done. I have 4 email accounts linked to my phones home screen. They all work great! I get Sirius Radio on my TREO. I subscribe to a $12 dollar a month internet access and through a free program can use it on my TREO. What a money saver that was. No having to buy a specialty radio player, house hookup, car hookup etc. I plug my TREO into my car radio 3.5 jack and list to Sirius in the car. I plug my Treo into my Home Theater and listen to Sirius. I plug my Treo into my work computer 3.5 jack and listen to Sirius. I go to the gym and put my Treo in my pocket...put my blue tooth stereo headset on and listen to Sirius while working out. I am quickly and easily able to email work excel documents and word documents to my personal email..access them on my Treo and edit and add too them. I installed a program called Jetcet Print, it allows u too blue tooth any documents, emails etc. too my printer ( you can also print too a wireless printer). I installed Ringo..a program that lets you convert any song into a ringtone. I use a free program called Viigo and am able too go too one place to read all my web feeds. I run Trend Micro mobile security on it. Other programs are MSNBC Mobile, PDF Viewer, One Note Mobile, Cellular Video, Games, Live Search, Windows Mobile Media Player. Most recently I found a program called Sprite. I makes a complete image backup of your phone. Should you ever have too hard reset your phone you can reinstall the image...and your phone is back to before...no having to re install all your programs, contacts etc. Mind you I have never had too Hard reset my TREO. While on occasion the TREO locks up I find it to be very impressive. I found a program that helped stop that.. its called Mem Maid. It cleans up all them catches and etc that slows down the phone and secretly eats memory processing. Sorry but as cool as the iphone features are...the iphone can not do what my WM phone can.
Just think can you listen to Siruis Radio...Use a real navigator Tom Tom GPS....watch live TV, yes all 100 stations, make phone calls, Text message, Email, watch tv recordings from your home pc after transferring to your cell phone, transfer any music you own to your cellphone, take pictures, Instant message etc. All this in one hand phone in your pocket .....anywhere anytime. Once again don't get me wrong. I think the iphone is cool too. It just cant do everything like I would like it too. I am looking forward too the new round of WM devices coming out end of 08 first quarter 09. With increased Ram and faster processors, added Wifi and etc. I am sure I will find a WM device that will do all my Treo does but even smoother. Best to all and STOP the hatin. And NO the iphone is not the greatest thing on earth or the jesus phone. Amazing so many people can wet themselves over a user interface.. The iphone is currently simply a phone combined with an ipod and a impressive web browser...no more. By the way Apple has so got over on you iphone buyers...what a scam charging so much and rolling a new version out every four months.
