The US needs to follow the EU's suite and make Microsoft jump through their hoops rather than vice versa.

My solution would work if governments only had teeth...

My opinion on a fair and balanced antitrust settlement for Microsoft vs. the US, EU and the rest of the world: Pirating MS software is no longer illegal, all patents held by Microsoft are now null and void, and and all MS source code will be published without restrictions. That should about do it. Anything less would allow Microsoft to continue its criminal behavior.
