Tape and portable volumous media is fine, but the HD has been around longer than all of these and in a backup environment, lasts as long as needed. You can't beat it for read/write access either.

Until they started publishing Microsoft Press Releases as "news," all they've been is anti-Microsoft. Seriously, count the stories and analyze the tone.

Would Rather Use Backup Exec
by Mikhail609 July 8, 2005 10:10 AM PDT
Maybe it's just me, but we currently use Backup Exec, and I really don't trust Microsoft. We already do disk-staging (since v9), and I love it.

I'm testing the new Panther beta from Veritas (uh, gee, Symantec now I guess). It blows the doors off DPM. Don't know if anyone else has tried it.

"It blows the doors off DPM. Don't know if anyone else has tried it."

That statement makes it pretty clear that you haven't actually used or done any in-depth comparison of the two.
