... Isn't this a step backware, like rack mounted UPS systems and Direct Attached Storage? Maybe useful to squeeze a few last hot Intels in but surely the answer is to reduce the input power in the first place (Transmeta, Niagra etc. ;-0)

thats why this came about, vmware and blades are selling like mad and heating datacenters.

guess what the number one chip is in a blade?

Some of the high end PPC Macs have liquid cooling as well. Now that HP is going this route with x86, it makes me wonder if the next trend is going to be hotter chips and liquid cooling.
