Comments on: Trojan masquerades as iPhone game

Beware the e-mail attachment offering free iPhone game "Penguin Panic," Sophos says. It's really a Trojan that can take control of your Windows PC.

sorry, really doesn't have to do with this phony Trojan Horse, but I also somehow beleive I have been infected by another 'bogus' security spyware called INNOVAGEST 2000. I have been trying to find out who else might know of this...and how to kill it ...or destroy it and get rid of it. I have run into a product called SpyZooka...but have not idea if this would just lead me down another rabbit-hole..in other words, is SpyZooka just a another phone 'security' fix that may be in cahoots with INNOVAGEST 2000??

LOOKING FOR ANY HELP OUT THERE?

easiest answer, if you think you have a virus, or malware of some kind, google the name of the suspect software, u can suually find posts about it if its malicious. otherwise try running an actual virus scan, rather then some random spyware killer, which usually is just more spyware. there are alos free online tools that will scan your machine. google is your friend, and u can find most of your answers there

There is a definition of a computer virus on wikipedia for the ignorant.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Computer_virus

In general culture, we see them as malware .. dangerous bits of code that causes damages to a system by taking advantage of known or unknown vulnerabilities. Vulnerabilities like the 34 that haven been patch recently in Mac OS X.

Mac's have viruses too...

http://antivirus.about.com/od/macintoshresource/Macintosh_Viruses_and_Mac_Virus_Resources.htm

They might be rare, but few Mac owners are prepared for them. The thing about viruses is they want the highest saturation, and that is not the Mac, which is caters to people that want to overspend for less: like the I AM RICH iPhone app.

99% of mac users buy refurbished because they're too poor to afford real macs. hackers/virus writers could care less about poor people who own nothing but a rebuilt mac that probably cost more than their car. lmao!

"No problem here with the Mac. What's a computer virus anyway?".

Ya, right! Mac's market share was too insignificant for virus writers to spend their time writing viruses for. That doesn't make it any more secure, just not attacked enough. Security by obscurity!

Another PC user who doesn't know anything about UNIX, the power behind OSX.

Most web servers in the world are UNIX based. If a malware could crack one of those, do you really think they'd be interested in a bunch of PC Bots?

UNIX is inherently more secure than windowze.

And BTW, Mac laptops are about 30% of all NEW laptop sales. That's NOT insignificant.

Really stupid since EVERYONE knows that unless you Jailbreak, as in VOID your iPhone, you cannot get Apps thru an email or website and load them on your iPhone anyway.

All true apps are delivered thru iTunes.

So if you are stoopid enough to try to get iPhone apps thru other means, then please assist me in the following:

Kindly to assist me in cashing a check left to me by my rich Uncle who was in the UK. I cannot cash the check here due to it's large size and that inflation is so high here. But to have the money in American dollars would help me to keep its value.

If you could so kindly take the check, I can mail it to you and you place 1/2 of it, or $10,000 in my Nigerian bank account listed on the back of the check. You can keep the other $10,000 for your kindness and troubles.

Please send the money on the same time you place this check in your bank as my family is hungry and my mother is in need of surgery. Our lives and situations are precarious and your kindness is so much appreciated.

this is a good reason for people who run windows not to stoop to low levels and install junkware from crapple.

If everyone had a Mac Laptop we would all walk around with black turtle necks and look like clones. I like to think and be different.

Well your right. I mean Apple really doesn't have that much of a market share so why would anyone want to write a virus for a Mac? Because that would make all the apple fanboys shut up! Hey, its proof of concept. If it can be done (which it can) then do it! Stop talking the talk and start walking the walk. Honestly, even with Apples little market share there is definitely enough prestige to have a nice virus written for it.

Think about it, you write the virus, you shut up the fanboys. Not an apple fanboy, heck, I've never owned an apple computer. I'm just saying if its such a small market share, then why are there constant fights about Apple vs PC? Come one! Do something about it!

interesting how a windows virus just gives the "windows fanboys" a chance to bash apple. hypocrites.
if you like windows operating system so much why are you even taking the time to bash apple?
i don't even know why i responded to this since i run ubuntu. but it just burns me up listening to you whining jealous fanboys argue. i don't care what operating system you use. you all sound like a bunch of middle schoolers to me.
