Perhaps the "panel of payment leaders" should go out and visit merchants who have the NFC payment systems installed. I have a Paypass card and probably 80% of the time it doesn't work. Usually, the reader isn't even plugged in. When it is, the subway card in my wallet prevents the credit card from working. Ironically, the credit card doesn't interfere with the subway card at all.

Barry McCarthy, president of Mobile Solutions for First Data and James Anderson, a vice president at MasterCard Worldwide, clearly have hire a public relations firm that knows how to communicate effectively. Airing their frustrations and whining about the media and "hysterical" consumers is not going to inform the public about this technology. If these guys really are "leaders" they should stop blaming everyone else in sight for their own inability to communicate and start to devise ways to educate their potential customers about the benefits that they see so clearly.

Umm ... like amazon does anything to help. I used to buy from Amazon since its inception and in the past 3 years have not bought anything from them. Why? Because Amazon have a big fraud rate. The items they posted that are available, are not available. I got tricked 4 times on this. Expect me to trust a company like this who is not honest about available inventory? Tricked me to go through the ordering process, getting me to enter my credit card information, and storing my address, and 2 days later, email me to tell me the item is not available.

Piece of sheit.

What about Japan? They have been using Osaifu Keitai or Cell-Phone wallet for at least the passed 5 years. Suica, Pasmo, Icoca, Visa Touch, EDY, IC Card's, even for flights on ANA and JAL can be purchased at a kiosk through your cell phone. Every convenience store and taxi and Japan accepts some form of mobile payments. You neglected to mention the country with the longest and most broad adoption of mobile payments.

Security and privacy guaranteed by AT&T ????????? AT&T believes any information going across their network belongs to them; and Congress backs them up. Will the companies insisting media do the market of mobile payments for them, take total financial responsibility for any losses ?
