What about silicon nanotubes?
by CharlesRovira November 10, 2006 11:36 AM PST
It seems to me that, since the number of electrons in the outer shell is equivalent (pun intended,) they should be able to strain the silicon into nanotubes.

That means no introduction of foreign material by means of layering, sputtering or doping. That would take care of a whole lot of problems with ELSI.

no such thing

There is no naturally occuring silicon sturcture that exists in the "nanotube" form. I don't think there is any element that exists in that form except for carbon which is why it is so special

Their is software coming that will shift the focus of performance
gains in that direction, (Parallel Processing Software).

This should buy the hardware guys at least a couple of decades for
all needs that we should have.

Look for big announcements next year, out of Texas & CA.
