  • On TechRepublic: Windows 7 report card: Hits and misses

Comments on: Microsoft: Longhorn beta unlikely this year

Efforts to shore up security on Windows XP pull developers away from the update effort, setting back the release, and probably causing some planned features to be cut.

Can MS deliver or is it a dream?
by diabulos April 2, 2004 8:35 AM PST
XP is showing its age even against OSX and some versions of Linux. Apple can do a lot for OSX from here to 2006, and so can red Hat or any other Linux company. If MS fails to make the computing experience better people will move to other options. Rigth now there is no alternativer on the PC front to ilife from Apple. It is still a pain to cut a CD on XP, as well as work video (compared to Apple products and some Linux offerings) tunes has saved the day on the MP3 front (together with the Ipod) and the DVd making software out there is sad in comparison to Idvd. C'mon MS, XP is becoming an Old OS while the others keep getting better! 3 to 4 years is a huge gap, and you may be wishing for too much, another Cairo? maybe

You bet, let's watch Linux grow and work better, go Apple OSX! There is a reason Uncle Billy, that IBM dumped you along time ago, it did not work then and it still does not work NOW! I only have one Winblows machine left, hummmm maybe I will replace it with an Imac, better yet a power Mac G5! Yes Sir Uncle Billy, no more blue screens of death for me, Trusted Computing anyone?
