- Firstly Java 1.5 was released on 2004-09-29 (which means 1 year and 4 months ago). And secondly there's no need to rewrite Java Apps because Java is compatible from one release to the other.

(3 Comments)as for why they went to 1.6 maybe they found a better way to write the core the 1.5 branch and the 1.6 could be pretty much different animals even tho the externals are the same
