- The 2.8 Opteron is plenty fast for server use with negligible performance differences with the comparably priced Intel parts - but significantly lower system price and most importantly, system power dissipation.

- amd's success has brought us the price and capability war that is going on right now. Amd is the reason there even are dual and quad core, or why intel switched to the amd style processor. Amd just makes the market a better place for consumers and they have in turn put out some very solid equipment over the years to rival a company that held 95% of the market. So before you go calling people fanbois just remember that without them your precious intel would still be releasing a chip that ran 1.4ghz and would make this story instead of amd.
