(3 Comments)I guess unless the PowerPC takes up more we are going to see Intel become even more dominant.
Intel being the driving force of the industry is on a serious decline since AMD beat them to the 64bit-x86 market.
Still, Alpha can be called the Betamax of CPUs, advanced architecture that many emulated (even on hte x86 level) - but it just lost out due to a myriad of reasons.
HP interess in Itanium doomed the future of the Alpha chip....Time as proven that the itanium was/is simply a bad choise!
Today I still prefer my Alpha chip running at 600Mhz than Pentium or K7 chips running at similar speeds! I hat hopes that IBM would aquire the Alpha chip and integrate it with the Power PC. With this event now we are left with Power PC, Itanium and x86 a poor choise indeed....
