Brilliant essay - one of the few who "get it"
by May 21, 2004 1:24 PM PDT
I've heard Rogers speak at a CATO Institue luncheon, and to put it simply, he's one of the few who "get it;" who understands the abysmal horrors of public policy as its laid out today. Futhermore, he's got the guts to say it. If he ever ran for president, I'd hope that every half-witted, even remotely educated voter would vote for him.

Hypocrite

So, he opposed to "corporate welfare", i.e. special treatment
from the government given to corporations? Then he brags
about going to the local government in Round Rock, Texas and
basically getting a pre-approved building permit. I'd bet that
plenty of taxpayer dollars were spent to build roads and other
infrastructure to support his plant as well. And, he has the nerve
to call others hypocrites.

I'd also bet that when the average joe small business man goes
to the city government for a permit to add a few hundred square
feet to his warehouse, he doesn't get a face-to-face with the
department head and a pre-signed permit. Nope. The small
businessman or the homeowner doing a remodel has to reach
for his wallet and trudge through the bureaucracy.
