Chuck Thacker is a legend in his own time

I had the privilege of working with Chuck at the DEC research labs. In addition to being a brilliant computer scientist and visionary, he is a great guy.

Chuck had just finished a tablet PC project called Lectrice, and was working on a first of its kind cable modem for the Internet. This was back in the days when "state of the art" was a 128KBS ISDN line from the phone company that cost about $100 a month depending on usage.

Chuck has always been way ahead of the curve in his thinking. I wrote a blog about some of the other projects he worked on at DEC's SRC lab. Interesting stuff. See http://dondodge.typepad.com/the_next_big_thing/2007/06/chuck_thacker_b.html
