iZune = MS fanboy

He's posted many one-liner "Apple Sucks" posts on several news
stories. If that's not the definition of an annoying fanboy, what is?

1.2%? Hell no. Way higher.
by gm2net March 15, 2007 2:39 AM PDT
1.2%? I don't think Apple's marketshare has EVER been that low. At
the very least, it's 5%, probably about 10% of the total market.

But anyway, who cares about marketshare? It's a signficant enough
platform, we're happy using it. Of course, you're not, because you
want to feel part of "the crowd". Oh well...

10%!!!

US maybe, but not world. It is low, probably below 2, and definitely below 5%. From my perspective, 1 in 20 is generous enough.

As for feeling part of the crowd, that is not the reason why people use Windows. People use Windows because it is cheaper in most parts of the world, more accessible in most parts of the world, and it does the job that they want for most people. If Apple reduced prices and made Macs more available then the situation might change, but personally I think Apple like it the way it is.

Here?s my advice; in stead of spending tons of cash on your artificial brain why don't you go get yourself a real education for a change? Looking back, I've always regret my school days when they trick us youngster using those machingtrash but no more? Thanks GOD for capitalism.

Fanboys? The holes are still being patched, regardless.
by gm2net March 15, 2007 2:42 AM PDT
Heh, not likely.

While Apple may not treat the security researchers in the kindest of
the ways, they fix the holes. Microsoft may treat the hackers more
nicely, but the holes never get fixed.

Go look at Secunia.

Windows users arguing against Mac
"Nobody uses Macs"
"It sucks"
"Mac users are gay"
etc etc

Mac users arguing against Windows
"It's not well desgined because..."
"It sucks because."
"Mac is better because..."
etc etc

Notice the difference? It seems to fairly often be the case that
Mac users insult the Windows OS, and Windows users insult the
Mac users themselves (as well as the platform)...

And who's fault is that?
by InfojunkieHDTV March 15, 2007 10:28 AM PDT
You can't blame Windows users for that since MS insist that you
give up your soul when you accept the EULA. As a result, the
distinction between the "user" and the "machine" is more apparent
with Mac users, hence two targets.

Just kidding ;-)
Selective hearing?
by Hoser McMoose March 15, 2007 11:33 AM PDT
I think if you're seeing this it's more a case of selective hearing (err.. selective reading?) than anything else. There are LOTS of things to complain about with Macs. By far the most common complaints about Macs I hear are:

1. Macs cost more.
2. They don't run my software

Both are less of an issue now then they used to be, but they do still exist for many users.

From me personally, I'll add in another thing I don't like about Macs, the UI. I don't know why everyone talks about how "intuitive" it is, I find it just plain old annoying. However that is very much a personal preference thing. Some people will like it, others will not.

This is precisely we the majority pc users hates the dump-azz machingtrash users; for only %5 users base they surely make some noise.

All of these mac-bozo hide behind their childlish looking system telling us how they would make the world better but in truth, it serve to make them feel justified for their spending on their cost over-run system. I am so glad to know my place in this earth because I know that the world will always migrate toward greatness; it?s just the law of nature and something that macinhtrash users have no knowledge of or refuse to believe in. in reading most of these messages; all I getting out of is how they?re talking about their system is being copied or their idea is stolen like it is of their own design.

Here a little truth macsuxker; the world is and always ?steal/copied/borrow? ideas in order to achieve enlightenment. If you don?t believe me just look back thru the history of humankind; we by nature learn to survive by copied or adapt from each other in order to exist, ie? potatoes, corn, horses, gunpowder, shipbuilding, art of war? if you learn the truth for each of those you?d know. For example, way back in ?80 some punk caught a glimpse of GUI system being put on demonstration by Xerox; he likes it so much that he borrow the idea and claimed it as his own invention for when the first personal computing system; he state that it CHEAPER than what?s XEROX system is therefore it is not a copied but a completely new idea; amazingly he?d turn around and accused other for being copying his GUI idea.

I know for a fact that lots of windows functionality ideas are the combination of various oses and the windows os itself had just mature to its next level which make my job better for a cost that I can sleep at night. I know for a fact that I don?t have to scale back my spending for other items due to my personal computer gobble up most of the cash; something machingtrash users cannot apprehend. And here?s that FACT that you won?t here from these bozo: remember when they scream how SLOW the Intel CPU is compare to 68xxx CPU and how their Nu-Bus is being SUPERIOR to the PCI bus. Look at them NOW! First mac/apple abandoned its core os (GUI is GUI nothing more) to use the Linux core. And force their own users to UPGRADE by TRASHING their current system; no emulation here. Talk about blind faith; I wonder what would happen if AMD speed up their processor and Intel not able crank out fast enough to meet demands?wonder who?d suffer???

Now mac-luvers, go buy yourself the latest generation of ipod so that apple stock can rise a little higher before it burst and plug that ipod where the sun don?t shine!

Users Don't Like Change - Don't Like Macs
by pmchefalo March 15, 2007 9:08 PM PDT
If the Apple businessmen hadn't screwed their clone-makers, maybe the market share would be higher and more pople would want them, and more software would be available.

And maybe if the Mac "styling" was more business-like instead of "Cutesie" businessmen would have not been afraid of losing face while using them. (Why do you think the little search dog and Clippy are so unpopular on Windows?)

And maybe if Apple had adopted a two-button mouse (for heaven's sake they do help productivity) then my kids wouldn't hate Macs so much based on their experiences at school fighting with them.

These are all non-technical, but actually non-trivial reasons that people didn't adopt Macs, and are ignorant of them. And once they have learned how to get by in Windows, they sure don't want to change.

A large part of Windows' appeal to consumer is the identification of users with what they know. Windows == PCs to them. Many of my users want XP "skinned" like 98/2000 intead of the default XP interface even now. And that is probably why Vista is being reviled so heavily right now; it may be "better" technically, but it's different!

The Mac was not the first mover, and it will probably never be dominant: too different. A Linux with KDE is more likely to threaten Microsoft if the apps ever show up ...

Wonder Where All the 4000 infected PCs Are
by pmchefalo March 15, 2007 9:26 PM PDT
That statistic about 200 spyware infections per PC is just crap.

The worst I have ever seen is a rooted box with about 500 files. That would be one in 200 with that kind of problem. Besides that there have been a few kid's PCs with a couple hundred hitys, but that would include cookies and single registry entries counted individually by adware sellers for dramatic effect. But most PCs I see have ... none. Of course I set them up for success when they're my customers.

If you were really trying to set up your customers for success then
you would not be selling them Windows PCs to begin with. I have
personally cleaned several Windows boxes that the owners swore
were perfectly clean. Maybe you are not sophisticated enough to
know what to look for?

I tried for a number of months to find a good home for the
machines since I thought it was a waste to throw away 3
perfectly functional PCs. However none of the charities or local
schools I spoke to wanted them - no real reason was given -
After 6 months of promising my wife I'd get rid of them I had to
take drastic action so stripped out the useful components and
put them in a box and took the rest of the metal to the recycle
dump. I'm in the UK, not the US - but not sure where you are
located, but if anywhere in Europe you could pick up a Flat Panel
iMac 800 MHz for around $370 = shipping according to my
quick search on ebay.co.uk. Alternatively go to some of the Mac
centric sites and put up a posing that you are looking to buy an
used mac - maybe someone in your part of the World will see it
and get in touch. Good luck.

I have three PIIs with limited usage, and another three PIs. I collect old computers (such as Apple IIs, Amigas, Acorns, Commodores, etc), but PCs just don't have enough style! (Most old Macs are the same - the Mac IIs were just plain ugly. The recent ones look nice though.) I have already converted one into a router (hence the Linux), my kids already have a computer, so it looks like the rest will recycled. Darn.

To tell all, I am in Australia, home of the expensive Macs. I need more than luck, I need intervention from some divine being. I really don't like spending too much on computers. To me they are a tool and providing they do the job I really don't care. I will take your advice though.

The Mac ad that wouldn't dare show
by MisterHIan March 16, 2007 11:30 AM PDT
A Gamer playing on a $2000 dollar alienware pc that has twice the framerates and ten times the visual appeal of an Imac, sitting next to a gamer who's parents just bought him a $2000 Imac, with the stock option of a 7300GT.

PC Gamer: Hey dude is that your new mac
Apple User: Yeah

PC Gamer: Nice 24" screen
Apple User: Like it

PC Gamer: Yeah, what kind graphics card is it running off
Apple User: It says its a 7300GT

PC Gamer: Oh, ok then, (clears throat in disgust), So what games can you play
Apple User: Oh um I'm actally using bootcamp at the moment and I'm running XP, I had Doom 3 lying around wanna play some lan ?

PC Gamer: Yeah ok
Apple User: Cool

Apple User: So what are you doing there ?
PC Gamer: Oh I'm just turning up the settings, I can max them all out on my 7900GS

Apple User: I'm sure I can do that too
PC Gamer:(clears throat again) Oh yeah sure

Apple User: Alright I'm connected
PC Gamer: Cool

Apple User: Oh my god why is it going so slow, its like a slideshow, I set it up just like you
PC Gamer: You might wanna turn down the settings just a little bit

Apple User: Why, I thought we had the same CPU
PC Gamer: Your graphics card sucks dude, okay, are you happy now, go how much did your rents' pay for that thing anyway

Apple User: $2000
PC Gamer: You know I spent the same amount on this, so that means you suck, and apples pricing sucks, and even though alienware's pricing is pretty ridiculous, they still kick the crap out of apple's prices.

If you bought all the parts from newegg.com and built a PC yourself you would be much better off, but for the non-tech savvy stick with the gamer orientated company Alienware, well known for their PC's performance and style.

A sweaty pimple-faced Gamer with a load of Cheetos crumbs on his shirt playing on a $2000 dollar alienware pc, sitting next to the young executive type who's just shutting down his iMac.

PC Gamer: Hey dude, wanna play Doom?

iMac User: No thanks, I'm going out with my girlfriend.

PC Gamer: Dude, that sucks, I feel so sorry for you.

iMac User: Yeah, sometimes I wish I was a no-life loser like you.
