Since the earliest versions of Windows the reason for most system crashes has been bugs in third party drivers. These days that can be narrowed further to bugs in the third party video drivers.

I'm a UNIX person who is in complete agreement with you. The Windows kernel is actually quite reliable/robust -- it's the drivers that surround it which cause so much trouble.

Peripheral drivers are the worst of the bunch (webcams come to mind). Video drivers come in second, and sound come in third.

Almost Empty. They did the test and found at least one or two, but they aren't talking, which makes me happy. We don't need that really specific information getting out and bad people using it to make people's lives difficult.
