- I have been reading post after post regarding - or at least initiated by - this story. Many versions of Linux were mentioned, most of which I have at least heard of. I personally have no experience using any Linux iteration.

Showing 3 of 3 pages (185 Comments)I am on the verge of building a PC from scratch (with a little help from a techie friend). I have quite a bit of experience with Windows and have had very few problems with 2000 or XP; however, that might have to do with the fact that I am dilligent in making sure Windows is up-to-date and I have adequate (understatement) protection against viruses, spyware, etc. I have a friend that recently built a system and decided to dump Windows in favor of Linspire (formerly Lindows). He claims it was the best move he ever made. He had always used Windows in the past and claims that Linspire is far-and-away a better choice. He says it was a breeze to install and after using it for 3 months, claims he hasn't had a single problem. I would love to get rid of Windows, but I have yet to find an alternative OS that I am comfortable with. Are there any Linspire users out there that would be willing to share their experiences with this OS?
