- Question is: does EMC actually want DataDomain or do they simply want to deny DataDomain to NetApp. EMC already has a credible data de-duplication solution; NetApp really doesn't. Given that they compete in similar spaces, it would make sense for EMC to acquire (and, perhaps, ultimately dismantle - they've done similar in the past) DataDomain just to keep NetApp out in the cold for a while longer.
