The extreme utter arrogance of persons in the Silicon Valley and the entire SF Bay Area sickened me for the 4 pathetic years I had the misfortune of living there.

I can only hope someone eats a little "humble pie" but even in this situation I have high doubts. It's really sad that I was so disgusted by the shallow minded (IMO) ppl. of the SF Bay Area that I never ever want to go back. I would never advise visiting the area to any friends. It's a part of my life I wish I could forget forever. I have better memories of visiting slums in Tijuana. I am not joking at all.

Let's see how they "integrate", but Java and MySQL are certainly valuable products/technologies.

Oracle has tried to purchase MySql in the past and has purchased the major transactional back-end for MySql. I hope that they are not doing this to poison or sunset MySql in hopes that MySql users will move to Oracle instead. I have speculated on this in more detail here.

MySql and Oracle and pretty different when you get into the details. They serve different markets so, please Mr. Ellison, don't kill MySql.
