Big win for Microsoft. Finally, Microsoft was able to find a buyer who can crush competition. Remember Netscape??

Something tells me that Adobe will be bought in the future, I always hoped that Sun could have/would have bought a long time ago, before it bought macromedia, but chose not to. I'd love to see a company that combines Sun and Adobe together. I dunno why, but they have pretty good products that could do well to be implemented with each other. Java plugins for Adobe CS5 anyone? To everyone that seems to be well thinking the products will be consumed by Oracle, I think not, mostly because, Sun is a company that stands well on its own, I would say to put its name on the site, like Sun/Oracle working together, so it doesn't seem like Oracle has now completely changed the ball game. If that happens, like Open-Source Projects will be scrapped, or cutoff cash wise. I would say probably no, but if so, it'll be slowly converted into proware vs. freeware stuff, or Oracle will but its own DB Management and mySQL combo, but I dunno what will happen to OpenOffice. If anything OO and openSolaris, VirtualBox, and Netbeans will be scrapped, if Oracle decides to completely take down Sun, like Adobe did and just obsorb the products it needs, Java and mySQL, and maybe use some of its Labs projects in development.

On the outset this seems like a logical acquisition.

As for MySQL, if they try anything funny, then it will just fork.
That is the beauty of Open Source. It cannot be controlled by corporations.

What does thi mean for the future of OpenOffice.org (which is open source but sort of run by Sun, as I understand it)? Will it fork, or will Oracle keep it going?

This is possibly the worst news IBM could hear.

Cisco would have been a unique buyer with future aspirations of getting into the same market as IBM.

Now, even worst.

Instead of putting away one of their smaller competitors, in Sun, they have now gained a huge adversary with as much clout as them. There was no other one solution company like IBM on the market, until now, and that is the new Oracle.

You know I wrote about this last year, that is when Sun took over MySQL that the
real intention behind that take over was for Oracle then
to take over Sun which would then allow it to eliminate or greatly handicap MySQL. So now Oracle has taken over Sun and the next step will be
to slowly Kill MySQL or render it ineffective, UNLESS people take action, because MySQL means HUGE cost savings to businesses in regard to their all important Database needs. After all MySQL is the Key reason for
why Oracle cannot charge the ridiculous Multi Million Dollar per SQL installation
that it used to charge so regularly prior to MySQL taking off, given that MySQL delivers same, if not better performance that Oracle DB, at an effective price of 1/100th of the Oracle SQL.

Oracle to buy Sun Microsystems for $5.6 billion

CEO Larry Ellison says Java is 'most important software we've ever acquired

This purchase of Sun by Oracle is a complete rouge, the real reason for Oracle
buying Sun is not Java at all, after all Java is just a programming language.
The real reason for this take over is MySQL which is a Free SQL database
compared to Oracle's SQL database which can cost $1Mill to $10Mill+
per installation.

This is a complete indication of what a HOAX, what a lying machine the entire
US Media is that it does not report this fact, this total disguise.
For if Oracle can take out MySQL, and by this take over of Sun which owns
MySQL, of course they can, then the World will loose a huge source of cost
saving and information freedom, this would be similar to Google taking over a
company that has taken over Anoox which is doing for the search engine market
what MySQL has done for the Sql database market, that is to offer an open source
search engine and a much lower source for Keyword based Advertising compared to Google.

Can't you see how destructive for lower costs and open access to information is when
a for profit company, for share price company, like Sun takes over MySQL and then
Oracle takes over Sun.

You know I wrote about this last year, that is when Sun took over MySQL that the
real intention behind that take over was for Oracle then
to take over Sun which would then allow it to eliminate or greatly handicap MySQL. So now Oracle has taken over Sun and the next step will be

So for those who last year responded to my warning that Oracle will next take over Sun
and thus allow it to in time Kill MySQL, are you seeing the full picture now? Are you waking
up to the Hoax that it is being played by Silicon Valley again, are you waking up
to the fact that when wall street backed companies see their sales & profits in danger
they will resort to any rouge or any lies via their buddies in the Big Media to eliminate,
or so handicap that much lower cost competition, so as to effectively eliminate it.

Now is there no hope? Yes there is, but we need to act together and fast:

1- We need a truly independent and open source company, like Anoox search engine, or similar out-fit to take over the further development of MySQL.

2- We need to contact US Dept of Justice and ask them to not allow Oralce to take over MySQL, that is Oracle can take over Sun, but it must dislodge MySQL in the process into an independent company.

3- Since US Dept of Justice is very unlikely to actually do anything that benefits small businesses, then we need to also contact EU commission and ask it to Block Oracle taking over MySQL and thus killing the low cost choice that exists for Millions of businesses for the all important SQL database in the form of MySQL

4- We need to watch out for the Big Media (ala CNBC, WSJ, etc.) from labeling any attempt to block Oracle taking over MySQL and thus killing it as being "Socialism...", that is the moment EU or other Government body announces that it is going to block this take over of MySQL by Oracle then the Big Media which spins the news for the benefit of Big corporations will label such action as
"Socialism..." and will give us the usual song and dance that Oracle taking over Sun (MySQL) will mean lower prices for consumers, etc. lies which we all know to be lies.

For more on this and to join the discussion in this regard you can go to:
http://www.anoox.com/news/show_selected_article.php?article=33599

Also you can join the effort we are putting together to have a new and independent group to further develop and market MySQL outside of the MySQL company.

Apple should have really bought Sun. It's not to late if the shareholders don't agree to go with Oracles offer, or if Apple tried to outbid Oracle. Sun could be Apple Enterprise. Mac OS X + Solaris would make a deadly combination!

dear IT professionals,

Oracle company database company did not know much about java latest technologies..
Java language is an ocean. Oracle ceo did not know about the Java latest
technologies.Oracle idea want to convert oracle professional to java professional.

java professional work hard for 5 years and become a project leader.

when oracle buy sun microsytems will also convert oracle professional to

java/j2ee professional. This is the greatest disadvantage.

Oracle buy mysql will make mysql not a open source software.

"We should not acccept richperson like oracle ceo having

many money"

Next thing is as gladwin ceo of integerated systems had said

oracle ceo has commited 3 murders ; a murder should not

able to do business.

IBM company not best in latest technologies of java.

So both must be rejected.

"Any company should not buy any research company

as said by david(rat company owner)"

oracle is a database company, oracle company employees
did not know much about mysql ,
advanced java /j2ee(like struts , hibernate ,etc), and java.
And Oracle company did not have java, mysql, and
advanced java/j2ee developers.
when oracle company buys sun microsystems will surely affect
java/j2ee professionals.
ie, oracle professionals with their experience will jump to java field will affect java professionals job.
when oracle buys mysql will make mysql not
an open source database and will kill mysql database.
so oracle ceo should be rejected in buying sun microsystems
and mysql.

As said by brito scientist it will surely affect
java /j2ee professionals and mysql.

oracle buys sun microsytems will make sun microsystems business loss.

Oracle ceo don't know how to run

sun microsytems.

Dear IT people,

Iam the project manager of Integerated systems

Larry ceo of oracle company is a murder.

Oracle ceo has commited 10 murders.

IBM is a very good company.

Remember oracle ceo is the enemy of

integerated systems and rat company who killed my chairman ,

etc. Don' t support this wicked.

Christ never says to support wicked.

IBM company has best application server like

websphere which is best than oracle database.

Which also compiles java ,jsp files.

So choose websphere instead of weblogic.

Ibm ceo is the best person and

our company best friend.

So IBM company will take over Sun microsystems

at 2010.

IF Sun chairman and ceo joins with

oracle lord jesus christ will make

java technology down and vanish it.

"CHRIST NEVER LIKES THE WICKED PEOPLE"

"SUPPORT IBM COMPANY INSTEAD OF ORACLE"

"iN THE WORLD RICH MAN ACCUMULATE

MONEY AFTER THE DEATH HE CAN' T TAKE

MONEY TO HEAVEN LIKE ORACLE CEO DID."

bEST OF LUCK TO YOU ALWAYS!
