IBM makes some solid laptops, they last and last. Dell makes crap, I have one right here that I use sometimes it's a Dell laptop 5300.
I feel like I have some familiarity with Russia.
Let me tell you the reputation about Russian software engineers is certainly not deserved. The majority are point and click install jockey's, that couldn't program their way out of a paper bag.
So called hackers are simple script kiddies, running software other people wrote.
Malicious; yes. Talented; no.
Believe it or not, the most talented programmers in the world are in the U.S.
Now I do like some things about Russian culture and I enjoy the language, but they don't deserve any credit in the realm of software.
The fact is, there are people out their individuals who can write an OS, SkyOS being an example.
And in Russia the entire country, with all its pride, and oil wealth, cannot boot an OS that isn't based on Latin characters, because it was invented in an English speaking country, and the most they can do, is maybe do some internationalization work to support cyrillic late in the startup code.
