Russians don't need computer help since they are so great at putting child porn online. They do need help with their submarines that keep on leaking and sinking to the bottom of the ocean. Russian made junk. All they have is oil, Gansters and child porn with a lot of spam on the side. Putin is a moron.

Having lived in the US a few years ago I can understand why Putin put some overpaid, tactless, computer dork in his place. And the author of the trivia that's motivated these comments is even less of an observer of things social.
Throw-away-one-liner wise-guys always use a cheap shot to bolster their image.
And remember, you'd have to go home and stand on your daddy's shoulders to kiss Putin's butt.

If the Russian citizenry weren't invalids, they'd throw him out.

Throw him out of what ? His retirement ? Dude, if you don't know the first thing about the situation, why do you bother writing about it ?

Maybe that's just closer to your needs (

Every country must be respected.

Speaking of Russia, just one examplke:
Take a look at FineReader OCR. It's virtually the best OCR software.
The cutdown version of it included into Acrobat Pro for years actually.

It is truly amazing how "reporters" like Erica get to mis-represent reality just to post a eye-catching news title towards achieving their own personal agenda of getting more "hits". I wonder if their pay is associated with the number of page views.

I would agree that Russia and China have polluted the world literally and with their "Great Software", I get spam from both in my in box all the time. I guess they think I forgot they existed, so they sent me some porn. I would like to think what the world would be like when Russia and China start to really compete in the Software and Hardware industries. I mean yea China makes a lot of Hardware and the stamp a lot of Software but I am looking for something other then that. How about something to compete with Office?

Of course Putin doesn't need help - being ex KGB he's on the right side of the gun and the gravy train. If he was in America he'd undoubtedly be a banker.

Just shows what an idiot (invalid) Putin is. What a disgrace for the Russian people to have this stooge on the world stage. It's also a perfect sample of his over-inflated ego. I feel sorry for Dell having to deal with this idiot.

Dell: "How can we help your country develop new and even more terrible computer viruses even faster? We truly respect and admire your ruthlessness. Is it true that Polonium enhances the flavor of foods?"

If the computer scientists in the BRIC Countries (Brazil, Russia, India and China) together were so much smarter than Americans then the world's economy would not have had to catch a cold whenever the United States of America sneezes; and, in actual fact the American economy is on Cruising Speed until Armonk and Redmond delivers on the missing APIs required for Economic Analysis using OS/2...(do the Russians know what is being talked about here!!!) then, Americans will see the economy of the so-called BRIC Countries disappearing in their rear view mirrors as the American economy shifts to "Warp Speed"!

Hint, Hint, Hint...Senior Obama (the Economist) must certainly be looking down on his son!

Go America Go - Go Boldly!

Those who show such contempt for Russians have never met or worked with them in their own country, probably. I have, and would never adopt such an attitude. They are well-educated, competent, hard working, and patriotic, despite having a recent history of enduring many hardships and being aware that such times could come again at any time. And they genuinely like and admire Putin. If their government continues to give them something like freedom, they'll be eating our lunch one of these years. Luckily for us, their government probably won't be able to resist doing so forever. That's because their main flaw is that they like to party hard rather than involve themselves in politics.

Well, if you are one of those Americans who would rest on your laurels and allow/watch the folks from the BRIC Countries to consume your family's breakfast, lunch and dinner then whose fault would that be!!!

Putin was right, russians know how to use the screwdrivers, The fact that they may be not so good at putting on the logo stickers means that they need to sort out few more important things in their society first.

Just like with Retail, there is too many stores, too much space. There is way too many computer manufacturers, one of them will drop off the list with this economy for sure or more than one.

IBM makes some solid laptops, they last and last. Dell makes crap, I have one right here that I use sometimes it's a Dell laptop 5300.

I've been studying Russian (language) for 8 years, and I am a database administrator and one time professional programmer by trade.

I feel like I have some familiarity with Russia.

Let me tell you the reputation about Russian software engineers is certainly not deserved. The majority are point and click install jockey's, that couldn't program their way out of a paper bag.

So called hackers are simple script kiddies, running software other people wrote.

Malicious; yes. Talented; no.

Believe it or not, the most talented programmers in the world are in the U.S.

Now I do like some things about Russian culture and I enjoy the language, but they don't deserve any credit in the realm of software.

The fact is, there are people out their individuals who can write an OS, SkyOS being an example.

And in Russia the entire country, with all its pride, and oil wealth, cannot boot an OS that isn't based on Latin characters, because it was invented in an English speaking country, and the most they can do, is maybe do some internationalization work to support cyrillic late in the startup code.

p.s. but those comparing Russian to Hitler, are out of there mind. And if you suggest elections are rigged, you are also out of your mind.

Putin is wildly popular, yes, he really won the vote.
